![]() | Laurel and Hardy are our two Common Clowns (Amphiprion ocellaris). They are always on the go, swimming around together. They were sold as wild-caught clowns, but seem to know little about symbiosis with anemones, as they have never paid the slightest interest in the various bubble tip anemones that have passed through the tank. Maybe they missed that bit of clown school out? |
| Their first home was a mushroom leather coral called Nellie, which I guess might resemble an anemone from a distance. Maybe the clowns are a bit short-sighted? They loved Nellie so much they nearly rubbed all her polyps off at one stage. Fortunately they soon spotted the much greater potential for hiding within Kittie the pussy coral's branches, and have lived there ever since. They rarely stray far from the coral, although if I sit close to their part of the tank they often come right up to the glass to investigate the strange and alien creature. |
